Nestled in the Village II Shopping Center at the corner of Academy Drive and S. Church Street is Rai Rai Ramen, a specialty Japanese restaurant that has operated in the town since last Summer. It is well known for making every menu item in house, including its signature pork broth which takes an entire 24 hours to craft. The menu features ramen and other Japanese staples bound to please any palate - everything from steamed pork buns to the customer favorite, Ribeye Steak Ramen.
Many small businesses, especially those catering to local office workers, have taken a hit during the past few months following state-mandated business closures. Rai Rai Ramen has been no exception, with owner Don Cheng saying that business is picking up, but not yet back to previous levels. Despite the slowdown, Rai Rai Ramen never shut its doors and remained open to feed the Mount Laurel community.
The restaurant quickly adapted to the pandemic and began offering contactless outdoor pickup for the safety of guests and employees. While the shop will take a cautious approach to reopen the indoor dining area following the nearly six-month closure, outdoor tables are currently available for use by patrons.
