On July 25th, Sam DeAlmeida was welcomed back home from his service overseas. Operation Yellow Ribbon organized the event. Operation Yellow ribbon is a non-profit that organizes welcome home events to show appreciation for members of the US Armed Forces returning from deployment. They also collect supplies and goods to send to our troops overseas serving in the Middle East.
Sam was welcomed home to Mount Laurel after serving for a one-year deployment in Kuwait. His wife, Meaghan, and their two children, Chloe and Sammy, were excited to see Sam when he returned. Sam is originally from Sengal, West Africa. When he became a US citizen, Sam wanted to give back to the country that welcomed him, so he enlisted in the United States Navy. Sam has served the Navy for 20 years.
Members of the Mount Laurel Township Council, the Mount Laurel and Evesham Police Departments, the Mount Laurel Fire Department, Mount Laurel EMS, and Warriors’ Watch Riders were among the many to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Ceremony. Mount Laurel Mayor Irwin Edelson addressed the crowd during the ceremony, “Operation Yellow Ribbon is a great organization doing wonderful work for veterans in South Jersey. I was extremely honored to be able to welcome back our Hometown Hero, Sam.”
